It is closed for good..... What are they going to do with all the names on the wall??? It was a shame to see the place go but the service really was going downhill. Moved here in 1998 and had our first meal in Houston at that place... Anyone have any more details on what happened???

Wide selection of beer, with great service and live music. The bar is divided in three sections, 1)bar=darts games etc. 2)Music room= live bands and plenty of seating. 3)Cigar Room=great for any kind of drinking. Reading some reviews people have stated that beers seem pricey, but if you would like a cheaper beer run to the corner store and get a bud light, this place has some of the best from around the world and is very reasonably priced for what you get.

on reading the other reviews presumably most by the staff i can only add that on St. Patricks day 2004 they ran out of Harp at 7.00pm. That pretty much sums up this pub pretender.

They might have an OK selection of bottles but so doesn’t the liquor store down the road. They also have only four draught beers. This is a restaurant not a beer bar by my standards.

Hidden among the tall pines of north Houston, Mathias' is quite a drive for most Houston residents. This explains why Mathias' patrons are generally from the north side, Spring, and The Woodlands. Mathias' main attraction is their huge SELECTION OF BEER. I am almost certain that no one can hold a candle to Mathias' beer selection. They have walls and walls of bottled beer. I could go on about the amount of selection, but my doing so would take the surprise out of your actually GOING there and SEEING for yourself the huge selection. That said, I have had the misfortune of ordering a beer that they were out of at the time. In addition, Mathias' draft selection is rather poor. For a massive selection of draft beer, go to either the Gingerman, or better yet, Timberwolf. Mathias' has live bands on Friday and Saturday night. If you sit in the band "section" you must pay a cover per person. But it really is an experience on Friday night, and worth the cover. Go there ready to try new beers. In fact, join the their club if you plan to return. Otherwise, just pick from the 3 page beer menu. Whatever you do, don't order a mass- produced, no taste, American beer. There are thousands of places better suited for that.

Drink one of each beer on the menu and they'll paint your name on the "Wall of Fame." They discourage patrons trying to earn a spot on the wall in only one visit.

A true neighborhood pub with excellent atmosphere and a great beer selection. Cigar smokers welcomed openly. Excellent beer club.
